This PBS series served as the initial inspiration for this track. Listening to lots of YES, Nektar, Babe Ruth, The Who, and traditional Icaros provided musical inspiration.

When you enter a black hole, the only direction possible for travel is inwards. Rather than a dire predicament, I offer a different take on the inward journey.

After 3 months of work, I've finished this opening track for my new record, Learning to Love. Keep your ears open for more music soon- in the meantime, grab some headphones and get ready for an adventure!

lyrics

I’ve only scratched the surface, now it’s time to dive inside
It’s time to find the man behind the corners of my mind
It’s time to heed the timeless call
And time to vanquish all my fears
It’s time to take a trusting fall
And honor all the lessons of my blessed childhood’s years

It time to find out what it means to really be alive
It’s time to break down barriers and time to take the dive
It’s time to find out what I’m worth
And time to see who I can heal
Time to take my right of birth
Time to take command and time to grab the steering wheel

It’s hard to really let things go
There’s still so much I want to know
But the time has come to be a man
And take the challenge If I can

I’ll find myself with greatest haste
Beyond the fancies of this place
It’s time to act what I believe
And walk along the path of grace

For every time I went and opened up my heart
Somebody stole a little piece and left me torn apart
With my spirit still exposed, I can no longer hide
It’s time to cross the border, time to take a look inside

It’s hard to really let things go
There's still so much I want to know
But the time has come to be a man
And take the challenge If I can

With my spirit still exposed
I can no longer hide
It’s time to cross the border
Time to take a look inside

Once you cross the horizon
The only way to go is in

It's hard to really let things go
Hard to really let things go
Time to act what I believe

It's hard to really let things go
Hard to really let things go
I can no longer hide

It's hard to really let things go
Hard to really let things go
Hard to really let things go
Let things go!

On the inside
I am all that surrounds me
There is no difference in between
The self and all the things I see

I remember what I am
How there’s nothing that I’m not
And I’m free to be
The beauty before me

I remember my task
I remember my call
To listen with great care
Share love with one and all

I remember my duty
I remember my past
The places where I came from
My spirit everlasts

On the inside
There is no difference in between
The things I am
And things that I could be

I’ll gather all the love inside
And let it out for all to see
For I know with great power comes
The same responsibility

It’s time to really help things grow
I know enough to start the show
The time has come to be a man
And take the future in my hands

With all the power of my soul
I’ll seek to make my spirit whole
I’ll travel through the darkest night
To usher in the morning light

I’ll sing my songs into the crystal winter skies
And hope to finally realize new ways to open up my eyes

Standing on the other side
I see the way one story ends
I watch as my new world begins
I am the soul within
